Simsbury Police are investigating several complaints from residents reporting that an unknown caller phoned their homes and attempted to solicit money by claiming to be a grandchild in need of money. The caller asks that money be sent immediately to Canada so that they can get back into the United States.
In each of the cases thus far the residents were suspicious and questioned the caller which in turn scared the caller off. Similar scams have been reported in this and other states. Residents are advised to be suspicious of all callers attempting to collect personal information and/or money from them over the phone and to report all incidents to their local police department.
